Pastoral Care Guidelines

Member Covenant

  • Care for fellow members and our larger community. It is essential that we commit to caring for one another through individual action and the care-related services of our church. Our congregation also is enhanced by members' service to their local communities.

Caring for Fellow Members

We are committed to caring for our fellow members within the constraints of our resources both human and fiscal.

 

Our areas of care include the following:

  • Meals for short periods of need
  • Transportation within the constraints of resources
  • Visits to health facilities, homes, and other within the constraints of resources
  • Cards to cheer and support members in crisis
  • Miscellaneous care within the constraints of our resources 

How To Receive Assistance 

Fellow members may request help via our email:

pastoralcare@universityuus.org 

When requesting assistance for yourself, a family member, or another congregation member, please provide the following:

  • The type of care assistance being requested
  • Meals
  • Transportation
  • Visits
  • Cards
  • Miscellaneous care 
  • The name of the person requesting and the name of the recipient
  • Dates and times for the assistance if appropriate
  • We have an identified captain of each care team, who will respond to the request for assistance.  They are responsible for determining how, when, and if the request for assistance can be met.  
  • Once it is determined that the request can be met, the care team captain reaches out to fellow members, who have volunteer to assist in meeting the request if possible.
  • Volunteers always have the option of saying no to a request to assist another member if the time is not right for them. 

Volunteering

Signing up to volunteer is easy and can be accomplished in several ways:


Training 

  • Care Training will be provided to volunteers to help increase their comfort level in volunteering in the different areas of care.
