Summary

Our religious education teachers guide a theologically diverse group of Unitarian Universalist children in learning about moral values, Unitarian Universalist history, and world religions. Applicant would work under the Religious Education Coordinator as one of three teachers on staff, mainly with children aged 7–10, but sometimes with children outside of that range. Curriculum is provided and volunteer helpers are present during most classes. The job involves working Sundays 9:30AM–12:30PM with occasional extended hours announced beforehand.

Responsibilities

  • Arrive by 9:30AM on Sundays to set up the classroom and prepare for the day’s lesson.
  • Take children into the main sanctuary about five minutes before service begins and lead them back out to the classroom when it is time for classes.
  • Help with passing the baskets during the service offering.
  • Lead class in the day’s lesson following the provided curriculum.
  • Supervise kids during free play in the classroom or on the playground, ensuring their safety and wellbeing.
  • Provide a supportive and welcoming space for all members of the community.
  • Tidy up the classroom and prepare it for use by renters during the week.
  • Occasionally stay past 12:30PM to provide childcare for congregational events which will be announced beforehand.
  • Participate in periodic planning meetings
  • Respond to email correspondence relevant to the program during the week

Qualifications

  • Previous experience with teaching or childcare (does not need to be professional).
  • Comfort with diverse theologies, family structures, sexual orientations, gender identities, and neurodiversities.
  • While not necessary, experience with Unitarian Universalism is a plus.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug test.

Office Administrator

This position is part-time, approximately 15 hours per week starting between $19.00 and $22.00/hour. There are no benefits included.

Summary

The University Unitarian Universalist Fellowship is looking for a part-time office administrator. This position plays a critical role in the operations of this congregation by acting as a resource for church members, staff, committees and the Board of Trustees. The administrator also coordinates with vendors and renters.

University Unitarian Universalist Fellowship is a vibrant and exciting community with strongly committed members. Hours

Flexible hours, approximately 15 hours /week. Hours may include some Sundays and occasional evenings. This is a hybrid in-person, remote position.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with members: prepare newsletters; answer phone and emails, edit content of web page/social media.

  • Assist committees with the work of the congregation, including preparing presentations for Sunday service and taking minutes.

  • Maintain a master calendar of church activities and building usage.

  • Maintain records: update membership data; track pledges, maintain policy and procedures binder.

  • Bookkeeping including maintaining the financial accounts.

  • Tracking of vendor invoices, payments, and contracts

Qualifications

  • Experience in office administration.

  • Excellent communication skills – written and spoken.

  • Self-starter with learning agility, able to multi-task and manage priorities.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

  • Understanding and respect of our Fellowship’s principles and values.

  • Experience with using computers, including knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite. Experience with PowerChurch software, QuickBooks, WordPress and MailChimp a plus.

  • Experience with general bookkeeping.
