with Dr. Joseph Harrington
Joseph Harrington is a Pegasus Professor in the UCF Department of Physics, chair of the UCF Faculty Senate, and a member of the UCF Board of Trustees. His research area is exoplanetary atmospheres. Highlights include the first detection of light emitted by a planet orbiting another star and the discovery of the smallest nearby exoplanet. Joe’s early interest in science was challenged by his church’s gift of a bible in the second grade. Like many, he has struggled to find a consistent narrative that respects both scientific evidence and the benefits of prayer and religion. Joe will discuss the nature of truth and how science and faith systems assess, challenge, and communicate ideas. Joe is also a long-time UUUF member.
