Groups & Events
Our fellowship sponsors or supports a variety of groups and events. Questions? Contact the church office for more information.
A collaboration between UUUS and First Unitarian Church of Orlando, Alliance members meet weekly at First Unitarian and enjoy a variety of activities, share a lunch, hear speakers, and make sandwiches for the homeless. They also help raise funds for local charities through their “Continuing Bazaar” thrift store. Come join in the sharing a good time and helping others! Contact the UUUS office for more information.
Beacon Youth Group
Beacon is a youth organization serving youth from 12-20 years of age. Members of the local Beacon chapter have an opportunity to interact state-wide with other Beacon groups by attending conferences (aka CONs) and engaging in community service, spiritual activities, and social gatherings. Beacon meets weekly at UUUS from noon to 2:00 pm in the teen room of the RE building.
The choir meets one evening a week except during the summer, under the direction of church member Janet Leavens, a classically trained musician. No audition is necessary. Come out and have fun singing with friends!
Once a month, after Sunday service, members of the Investor’s Club discuss the economy and investing. We welcome people who have skills concerning taxes and investments, but you don’t need to be knowledgeable to come and learn. Feel free to join in any Sunday!
Men’s Support Group
Need some guy time? A place to share food, conversation, and support? Then this is the group for you. Though mainly for the men of the UUU Society, any other men who could benefit from the group are welcome as well.
Novel Book Discussion Group
This discussion group meets each month in the UUUS library. All are welcome to participate, and with their book choices, there’s always an interesting read!
This is a social group that meets to enjoy the wisdom, insight, and the company of others. All ladies 18 years of age or older are welcome to attend any of the planned activities. Get-togethers are usually held every month, with an occasional special event here and there. There is no membership, just join in when you can.
Southeast Unitarian Universalist Summer Institute (SUUSI)
Although not officially a community group at the UUUS, our congregation is usually well-represented at SUUSI. It is an annual celebration attended by over 1,000 UUs from all over the world and is a favorite destination for many of UUUS members for that one week each Summer. SUUSI runs programs for our all ages and is especially family-friendly so parents can have an enriching experience too. Several UUUS members run workshops and volunteer as staff. There is something for everyone: spirituality, singing and dancing, family activities, workshops, nature trips, community time, and even late-night fun.
