Actually nothing got planted last Saturday. Cat Rigby kindly donated seeds and seedlings and the next step should be to plant the first two beds. It would also be a good idea to organize the donated lumber, i.e. pull nails, etc. I will be available Saturday 10AMish.

  Dear Gardeners,

Unfortunately I was not able to be there yesterday, but last Saturday went well!:-) We now have more lumber on site to build garden bed frames with!:-) Would anyone be willing to help me work on them next Saturday?

I'm eager to know how much progress there had been with the planting? I had to leave at noon to attend a meeting of the Orlando Gardening Meetup.com group. Dena Wild talked with us about Plant Propagation.

After looking at a plethra of websites about raised bed organic gardening, it seems that this one is very clear and comprehensive. http://organicgardening.about.com/od/startinganorganicgarden/a/raisedbed.htm

BTW we are looking for 2 volunteers to help with a special project. As an example, we have placed some samples of Granite "Stepping Stones" around the garden beds. We want to make a path with them that John McCormack is planning on clearing. It will go through the woods in the back, to a bench overlooking the pond. I suggested this material because it is scrap and freely available from local companies that make granite counter tops and such. Two jobs will need to be accomplished...

1.. Locate granite companies and arrage for us to pick it up.
2.. Load the truck and deliver it to the site.
