Lifespan Religious Education
Our Mission
To inspire, enlighten, and encourage everyone to reach their life-long spiritual potential through the exploration of the UU Principles as well as the faiths of other people. Ours is a cooperative program in which we all share the responsibilities and work together toward creating a spiritual "starting point" for families.

Our Leadership
UUUS is a lay-led organization, which means that leadership is provided by volunteers rather than ministers or other paid religious professionals. The UUUS religious education program is overseen by a committee of dedicated members of the congregation. This committee is chaired Happy Amein.
Happy Amein is committed to providing the first foundational steps in religious exploration for our youngest. A mother of young children herself, she recognizes the importance of creating a fun and enjoyable environment in order to help children learn best. Happy grew up in a traditional protestant background and became a UU in 1994. Since then, she has been an active member and leader at congregations in Boca Raton, FL, Morristown, NJ, and Brussels, Belgium. She also leads a girl scout troop. A recent success with the UUUS youth has been implementing an environmental program called GREEN Sundays, one outcome of which was the youth applying for and receiving designation for UUUS's property to be a Wildlife Conservation Area.
Other Opportunities for Families
Attend adult religious education classes. You will be sending a strong message that spiritual growth is an important lifelong process.
Attend social events at church. Circle dinners, potlucks, and family game nights are scheduled on an ongoing basis.
Consider taking your family on a spiritual retreat. Information about family camps and retreats are readily available through the RE department, and through the UUA website uua.org. There are many District events in Central Florida throughout the year, as well as national annual retreats and camps.
Encourage your teen to attend youth-cons. These are weekend spiritual retreats for teens held throughout Florida on an ongoing basis. Our Young Religious Unitarian Universalist group (Beacon) meets here at the church most Sunday evenings.
Subscribe your child to UU & Me! The magazine for Unitarian Children available through the UUA.
