UUU: Think, Act, Plan, Share (TAPS) to Get Green - 10/07/07

-ACT: Take three or four high usage bulbs (porch, reading) and convert them to fluorescent.

-ACT: Turn off energy thefts- unneeded lights, computers, and unplug transformers (battery chargers).

-ACT: Buy only energy star approved new products (appliances, lights, computers).

-ACT: Drive less. In the city, drive smart- anticipate lights. On highways, slow down from 70 to 60.

-ACT: Dress lightly in summer, more heavily in winter, and moderate your home temperature at night.

-ACT: Install a programmable thermostat, and set your nighttime temperature warmer in winter.

-ACT: Use better A/C filters for a cleaner home environment, and change them every 2 or 3 months.

-ACT: Plant a tree. Use low water use grass, or better yet, zero scape.

-ACT: Increase your home's insulation and when re-roofing use a lightly colored roof- cool roof.

-ACT: Buy local fruit, versus kind that are shipped across the world.

-PLAN: Take a free energy audit on line or in person. (On line you can see how much power you use.)
